Your tour today takes you to the wonderful
stately home in the heart of the Norfolk countryside,
Sandringham. Built in 1870 by the then Prince and Princess
of Wales, Sandringham was once described as ‘The
most comfortable house in England’. It has been
passed down as a private home through four generations
of Bristish monarchs and is now the country retreat
of Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The
Duke of Edinburgh. Sandringham is where the Queen and
her family spend each Christmas and is therefore a real
family home, full of their nick nacks and favourite
things.
The main ground floor rooms, regulary used by the Royal
Family, are open for you to see and the décor
and contents remain very much as they were in Edwardian
times. Take a self guided tour of house and enjoy some
free time to explore the grounds and the museum at your
leisure. You will find curators in each room of the
house and of course your guide will be on hand.
A short distance from Sandringham you will find Norfolk
Lavender. This is a wonderful place, full of all things
Lavender! In fact there are over 150 varieties here
and this is the true home of English Lavender. Enjoy
a tour of the grounds and hear all about the exceptional
qualities of lavender. See how it is grown, distilled
and turned into different products. Explore the Fragrant
Meadow and enjoy the tranquility, scents and and colours
which are here all year round.
