Depart Cowes this morning and enjoy
an overview panoramic tour of this beautiful island,
with stops in pretty Godshill, a quintessentially English
village, and Freshwater. Along the way you will be sure
to get a glimpse of the famous Needles. Continue to
Osborne House.
The Royal summer residence of Osborne House was built
for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert between 1845 and
1851. Although it is a grand, imposing, Italianate palace,
Osborne House was essentially a family holiday home
and is filled with many personal and family mementoes.
Highlights include the majestic Durbar Room, built by
craftsmen from India, and Queen Victoria's bedroom,
where she died in 1901. Within the grounds is the Swiss
Cottage where Queen Victoria's nine children played
happily; a museum of objects collected by the royals;
and the Queen's personal bathing machine. |
