Travel by private motor-coach to the
magical Lost Gardens of Heligan. As if from a fairy-tale,
the 57-acre gardens were lost for 70 years beneath a
mass of ivy, brambles and fallen timber. They have been
beautifully restored and incorporate rockeries, summerhouses
and a crystal grotto.
You will be met by a specialist guide for the gardens
who will introduce you to the remarkable history and
delights of these impressive gardens. There are benches
throughout the gardens, which will enable you to enjoy
the tranquil environment offered by the garden and bird-life.
Learn of the remarkable history of this garden –
how it was first created and how it fell into disrepair
and mystery, only to be de-discovered and restored to
its former glory in recent years. Enjoy the variety
of planting, from Victorian pleasure grounds, to vegetable
gardens, a sub-tropical jungle and the 30 acre ‘Lost
Valley’ that is now the focus of sustainable woodland
management practices. These really are glorious gardens
and voted ‘The Nation’s Favourite Garden’
by BBC’s Gardener’s World in 2002.
