Depart the port of Hull today for a
drive through some of Yorkshire’s finest countryside
to the small North York Moors town of Pickering. Here
you will embark the enchanting North Yorkshire Moors
Railway for a picturesque steam train journey through
the National Park to the tiny village station at Goathland.
Goathland has been immortalised by the TV show Heartbeat,
in which it was re-named Aidensfield. Your guide will
show you this village and its small Heartbeat museum
and point out the familiar sights of the Aidensfield
pub and more. There will be plenty of opportunities
to take photographs.
Continue your journey on to the charming fishing port
of Whitby where many scenes from Heartbeat have been
filmed – your guide will be pleased to point these
sites out to you. The old town and it’s cobbled
streets and the ‘One Hundred and Ninety Nine steps’
up to Whitby Abbey that overlooks the town are particularly
worth visiting. Whitby is also home to the Heartbeat
Exhibition for all die-hard fans! Enjoy some free time
here and visit any of the many local eateries at your
leisure for lunch. Later this afternoon meet back up
with your guide and return to your coaches for the return
journey along the scenic coastal route to Hull and you
awaiting ship.
