Leaving the port of Penzance, head
westwards through the lovely Cornish countryside to
the wonderful Minack Open Air Theatre. This unique theatre
was the inspiration of Miss Rowena Cade in 1931, and
she had it hewn out of the sheer cliff-face to form
a magnificent 750 seat auditorium. The audience enjoys
a breathtaking backdrop of sea, sand and cliff scenery.
There will be time to investigate this unexpected discovery,
and also to look around the small museum and interpretative
centre.
Continue through the windswept Cornish countryside
to “Land’s End”, the westernmost point
on mainland England. Tea will be served here and there
will be the opportunity for the more energetic to venture
out onto the point for the all-important photograph
at Land’s End! Your ticket also includes entrance
to the numerous exhibitions and displays, from a seated
ride through the ‘myths and legends’ of
Land’s End, to an exhibition commemorating the
many and varied ‘End to End’ challenges
taken on by the adventurous who travel from John O’Groats
in Northern Scotland, to Land’s End – guests
will have the freedom to choose which they wish to visit
(though it will not be possible to enjoy every attraction
in the time available). Head eastward again, to return
to Penzance and your tenders back to ship.
