Today’s tour of the Lake District
will introduce you to some of the most beautiful places
within England’s most picturesque region –
a kaleidoscopic array of green valleys, rocky mountains,
lush greenery and beautiful lakes.
Begin your sightseeing today by driving through some
of the regions picturesque villages en route to Keswick.
On arrival in Keswick enjoy a little time to explore
Keswick, at leisure, a lovely town located alongside
the scenic shores of Derwentwater, considered to be
one of England’s finest lakes.
Venture onwards for lunch at the Lakeside Hotel in
Windermere (or similar property). Enjoy a welcome drink
and a delicious two-course lunch before departing for
Bowness, a breathtaking and very popular resort town
set alongside Lake Windermere, one of Cumbria’s
most stunning lakes and England’s largest mere.
Windermere itself is 11 miles long and 1½ miles
wide and sits handsomely between densely wooded hills
and Bowness town. The Lake is a hive of activity, both
for water lovers, pleasure and sailing boats, and of
course fishermen. There is some free time in Bowness
to browse or enjoy morning refreshments (not included)
before continuing onwards and past another of the regions
glorious lakes, Ullswater.
Enjoy some lovely views of Ullswater through such villages
as Glenridding and Pooley Bridge before arriving back
in Whitehaven.
