Today’s tour takes you through
the lovely scenery of the Island of Mull to the small
ferry port of Craignure. Continue on from here for the
short journey to Torosay Castle. Torosay was built by
the famed architect David Bryce in Victorian Scottish
Baronial style in 1858. The 12 acres of spectacular
grounds contain a wealth of interest including fine
formal, Japanese and walled gardens. A pathway through
its gardens is lined with statues, while inside, 19th
Century furniture and paintings can be found.
Today the current Laird and his mother Mrs. James (subject
to availability) as well as the head gardener if needed,
will welcome you to the castle and be delighted to show
you around this house and its lovely gardens. Enjoy
a refreshing cup of tea or coffee with Scottish shortbread
or cakes before returning once more to your coach for
the return journey to Tobermory and your ship.
