This tour gives visitors a scenic tour
down through both islands to fully appreciate the scenic
beauty and fascinating geography of these glorious Hebridean
Isles.
On leaving the island capital of Stornoway on the Isle
of Lewis, today’s tour takes you directly South
along wonderfully scenic roads to the Southern Isle of
Harris and it’s capital port town of Tarbert. Here
we will pause in this busy little town before continuing
South West to the beautiful Luskintyre. Enjoy some time
on the wonderful Horgabost beach. Here, there are views
of the island of Taransay, made famous in the millenium
year when it become home to a group of people sent there
as part of a television experiment where they survived
as a mixed community away from the trappings of modern
life. Your guide will also tell you about the fascinating
and true rocket story of Taransay which has recently been
made into a film, soon to be released. Later, return to
Stornoway and you ship. There will be plenty of opportunities
to take photographs here and at the beautiful Horgabost
beach on the West coast and other viewpoints along the
way before journeying back to the Northern Isle and
Stornoway.
